Dr. Tina Powell

CEO/Owner Reimagine Now LLC

Dr. Tina Powell earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, a Post Baccalaureate in Pure Mathematics, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision, and an Executive Doctorate in Education, k-12 School Administration.

Dr. Tina has had a long and rewarding career in education --serving as a mathematics teacher, Gifted and Talented lead, Mathematics Resource Teacher/Coordinator, Instructional Technology Supervisor, Vice Principal, Director of Mathematics, Director of Mathematics and Science, and Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Systems.

During her tenure as Director of Mathematics and Science, she  introduced an increase in the number and quality of STEM-related opportunities within the district she served; expanding opportunities for underrepresented populations of students to participate in STEM-focused offerings such as Robotics, engineering courses, AP Mathematics & Science, and high-impact summer camps.

In 2017, and in an effort to further ready students for college success through new models for learning, Dr. Powell in collaboration with district leads, post-secondary partners, and industry experts cofounded the STEM Innovation Academy of the Oranges. The Academy is a fully integrated STEM education model that uses engineering design, mathematical analysis, and scientific investigation to leverage the natural connections between STEM subjects. The Academy exemplifies an early college model where students earn college credits toward a degree in one of three majors -- Computing Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering and has been ranked #9 High School in the state of New Jersey.

After a dynamic 20 plus year career, Dr. Tina opened her own Educational Consulting company, Reimagine Now; providing districts with support in 21st century educational strategies and solutions. Her support to school districts has resulted in multi-year  increases in state test scores across multiple grade levels and across all the districts that have encountered her support. These initiatives include

  • Designing Curriculum Maps in mathematics (Grades 2 – Algebra I)

  • Designing Common Assessments

  • Instituting Districtwide Data Protocols & Collaborative Inquiry Cycles

  • Auditing Middle- and High School mathematics curriculum resources prior to a new adoption

  • Establishing Standard Operating Procedures for Assessment & Data practices

  • Establishing Tier II and Tier III Intervention Programs

  • Establishing High Impact Tutoring/Transition Programs

  • Leading a Lesson Plan Writing initiative as a part of the “Empowering Educators Through Collaborative Instructional Planning”

  • Faciltiating in the development of a districtwide Intervention strategy

The butterflies in the logo and throughout this site reference the Butterfly Effect - explained by the idea that a tiny, seemingly insignificant action—like a butterfly flapping its wings—can set off a chain reaction with enormous, unpredictable consequences. It's the poetic expression of how complex systems are extremely sensitive to their initial conditions; meaning a small change at the start can lead to vastly different outcomes later on.  This is a subtle reminder that we can be the change we see in the world.

Dr. Tina is also a vegan/vegetarian cook and a published artist with works currently displayed in schools, local galleries, and on the web. The subjects of most of her artwork are children from across the globe. It is only fitting that her professional and creative pursuits are influenced by her favorite quote,

“Let the beauty we love, be what we do”… Rumi
